The Minutes (copies of which had been circulated) of the meeting held on 16 April 2014 were approved as a correct record and signed by the Chair.

Community Engagement

4.(i)

Chair's Announcements

To receive any announcements from the Chair about local community events or issues.

Minutes:

The Chair reported that the Mayor had attended the opening of the Marple Brass Band Room on 18 May 2014 and that it had been a very entertaining day. He further reported that issues relating to Chadwick Street continued to progress and he anticipated he would be able to report something more substantial at the next meeting.

4.(ii)

Public Question Time

Members of the public are invited to put questions to the Chair of the Area Committee on any matters within the powers and duties of the Area Committee, subject to the exclusions set out in the Code of Practice (Questions must be submitted prior to the commencement of the meeting on the cards provided. These are available the meeting and at local libraries and information centres.  You can also submit via the Council’s website at www.stockport.gov.uk/publicquestions.

4.(iii)

Public Realm

The local Public Realm Inspector will attend the meeting to provide an update on matters raised at the last committee meetings. Councillors and Members of the public are invited to raise issues affecting local environmental quality.

Minutes:

Wayne Bardlsey (Public Realm Service) attended the meeting to report on current issues and to answer questions from Councillors and members of the public in relation to highway and environmental quality issues within the area represented by Marple Area Committee.

 

The following comments were made/issues raised:-

 

·         Work had commenced on Upper Hibbert Lane and would last four weeks.

·         Footway repairs on Ashworth Crescent had commenced.

·         Carriageway resurfacing on Glossop Road was due to commence – work would take place at weekends.

·         United Utilities would be carrying out works between 4-6 June 2014 on Station Road.

·         Enforcement action taken about cars for sale on the highway.

 

RESOLVED – That Wayne Bardsley be thanked for his attendance.

To consider any applications for Area Flexibility Funding or to receive feedback from organisations who have received funding.

 

(i)            Friends of Windlehurst Park

Minutes:

A representative of the Democratic Services Manager submitted an application on behalf of the Friends of Windlehurst Park requesting funding towards a number of initiatives in the park.

 

RESOLVED – That consideration of the application be deferred to enable the applicant to submit more detailed information at a future date.
