The minutes (copies of which had been circulated) of the meeting held on 5 October, 2010 were approved as a correct record and signed by the Chair.

Members of the public are invited to put questions to the Chair on any matters within the powers and duties of the committee, subject to the exclusions set out in the Code of Practice.  (Questions must be submitted no later than 30 minutes prior to the commencement of the meeting on the card provided.  These are available at the meeting and at local libraries and information centres. To consider a report of the Monitoring Officer.

Minutes:

The Monitoring Officer submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) updating the Standards Committee on recent announcements with regard to the future of the standards regime and inviting the Committee to consider the proposals and the potential future working of the Standards Committee. Extracts from the Localism Bill relating to Predetermination and Standards were circulated at the meeting.

 

RESOLVED - That the Chair of this Committee together with the Monitoring Officer be requested to meet individually with the Group Leaders to discuss the implications of the Localism Bill once the political groups have had chance to consider the various options.

Minutes:

The Monitoring Officer submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) on dates for future meetings of the Committee, and the membership of and suggested dates and times for meetings of Hearing Panels during the next Municipal Year.

 

RESOLVED – (1) That the dates of future meetings of the Committee and the Hearing Panels be noted.

 

(2) That the membership of Hearing Panels A and B be noted.
