Planning Policy aims to protect open space, green space, and recreation from being lost under new housing. Play areas are also protected by “buffer zones” that shouldn't be built in.
There are recent developments where the rules haven’t applied though. And a new application on Grafton Street in Heaton Norris will see open space lost and the children’s play buffer zone reduced from 30 metres to 3 metres.
With these recent precedents, we are worried about a damaging shift in policy.
