25/11/2020 - Stockport Council Local Restrictions Support Grant (Open) and Additional Restrictions Grant Discretionary Grants Schemes ref: 4827    Recommendations Approved

Decision Maker: Cabinet Member for Economy & Regeneration

Decision published: 02/12/2020

Effective from: 25/11/2020

Decision:

The Cabinet Members for Resources, Commissioning & Governance and Economy & Regeneration have considered the requirement for local authorities to administer two new discretionary grant schemes to support local businesses – the Local Restrictions Support Grant (Open) and the Additional Restrictions Grant.

The Government are providing the funding for these schemes but require local authorities to use their discretion to design their schemes using their knowledge of their local economy and its needs, along with their understanding of the impact of the pandemic on local businesses.

The proposed discretionary schemes for Stockport take a prudent approach to the allocation of the grant to reach as many businesses as possible while avoiding over-subscription

The Cabinet Members for Resources, Commissioning & Governance and Economy & Regeneration have therefore given approval to the proposals contained within the report for the operation of an Additional Restrictions Grant and a Local Restrictions Grant Scheme (Open) and that individual decisions on the allocation of grants be delegated to the Corporate Director (Place) and Corporate Director (Corporate and Support Services).
