13/03/2017 - A6 to Manchester Airport Relief Road (A6MARR) Complementary and Mitigating Measures, Gillbent Road and Area, Cheadle Hulme

The Executive Councillor (Communities & Housing) has approved the legal advertising of the following Traffic Regulation Orders, and subject to no objections being received within 21 days from the advertisement date the orders can be made:-

 

·         Enhanced signing to the public car park located at School Lane to encourage its use in preference to on-street parking;

·         Improved pedestrian crossing facilities in the form of coloured textured road surfacing and tactile paving on all approaches to the mini roundabout at the junction of Gillbent Road, Hulme Hall Lane and Church Road;

·         Half-width lay-by outside the Co-Op food store south of Hulme Hall Road to provide short-term on-street parking close to the shops

·         Dropped kerbs and tactile paving across all side roads along the length of Gillbent Road;

·         Localised footway widening at the southern junction with The Circuit and Rushfield Road to improve alignment and reduce pedestrian crossing distances;

·         Conversion of the existing Puffin crossing south of Newlands Avenue and conversion of footway to shared cycle/footway to Woodstock Avenue to provide a safe cycle route across Gillbent Road in the vicinity of Thorn Grove Primary School;

·         New refuge island and tactile paving south of Ashdown Close to provide addition informal crossing facility for pedestrians, and widened footway south of Rushfield Road;

·         Improved pedestrian crossing facilities in the form of coloured textured road surfacing, tactile paving and upgraded refuge across the Gillbent Road arm of the mini roundabout at the Grove Lane junction; and

·         New roundabout warning sign and bollards on the Stanley Road arm of the mini roundabout with Gillbent Road.
