The Health Scrutiny Committee is responsible for the overview and scrutiny of local NHS bodies, including responding to consultation on substantial development or variation in health services in Stockport, and the monitoring of the activities of and liaising with relevant external and partnership organisations operating in Stockport to ensure that the interests of local people are enhanced by collaborative working. The Committee will also have a role in working with the HealthWatch Stockport.
The Scrutiny Committee is also responsible for the overview and scrutiny of the following Executive Portfolio:-

In 2014/15 the Health & Wellbeing Scrutiny Committee undertook a review of alcohol misuse services in Stockport, in view of the relatively high levels of liver diseases and other alcohol-related harm suffered by residents in Stockport. In 2013/14 the Scrutiny Committee examined mental wellbeing issues affecting 0-18 year olds and explored the effectiveness of Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Stockport.
