Mayor’s Cycling and Walking Challenge Fund - Offerton to Stockport

To consider a report of the Corporate Director for Place, Management and Regeneration.

 

The Area Committee are requested to consider the contents of the report, noting the results of the consultation exercise carried out for the Offerton to Stockport MCF proposals and to recommend the approval of the proposed measures and associated traffic regulation orders.

 

The Area Committee is requested to comment on this report and recommend that the Cabinet Member  for Economy & Regeneration gives approval to the proposals and associated traffic regulation orders as detailed in Appendix D of the report, and subject to the receipt of no objections within 21 days of the advertisement date, the subsequent making of the orders.

Minutes:

A representative of the Corporate Director for Place Management and Regeneration submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) detailing various Mayor’s Cycling and Walking Challenge Fund proposals for Offerton to Stockport.

 

With regard to proposal A – Offerton Lane Crossing, the Area Committee supported Option 2 providing for a shared toucan crossing and shared footways/cycleways to both sides of Offerton Lane and not Option 1 as recommended in the report which would require Salcombe Road to become one-way.

 

With regard to proposal H – Hempshaw Lane Puffin Crossing, the representative of the Corporate Director agreed to look at additional options to reduce the speed of traffic on Hempshaw Lane.

 

RESOLVED – (1) That approval be given to proposals B,D,E,G & H (as detailed in the report) and the legal advertising of the associated package of Traffic Regulation Orders (as detailed in Appendix D of the report), insofar as they relate to the Local Distributor and Local Access Roads within their purview, and subject to the receipt of no objections within twenty one days of the advertisement date, the subsequent making of the Orders.

 

(2) That the Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration be recommended to give approval to proposals A2, F & G (as detailed in the report) and to the legal advertising of the associated package of Traffic Regulation Orders (as detailed in Appendix D of the report), insofar as they relate to Strategic Highways and District Distributor Roads, and subject to no objections within twenty one days of the advertisement date, the subsequent making of the orders.

 

(3) That the Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration be recommended to defer consideration of proposal C (Dialstone Lane Crossing) for further study and consultation before any amended proposals are brought before the Area Committee.
