To approve as a correct record and sign the Minutes of the meeting held on 19 December 2016.

The Minutes (copies of which had been circulated) of the meeting held on 19 December 2016 were approved as a correct record and signed by the Chair.

Public Question Time

Members of the public are invited to put questions to the Chair any matters within the powers and duties of the Ward Committee, subject to the exclusions set out in the Code of Practice.  (Questions must be submitted prior to the commencement of the meeting on the card provided.  These are available at the meeting. Ward Flexibility Funding

To consider any applications for Ward Flexibility Funding or to receive feedback from organisations who have received funding.

Frank Bramwell Legacy Fund

To consider any applications for funding from the Frank Bramwell Legacy Fund or to receive feedback from organisations who have received funding.

Minutes:

No Frank Bramwell Legacy Fund applications were submitted.

 

A representative of the Corporate Director for Place Management & Regeneration informed the Committee that following the recent granting of funding to improve the flow of water to Sunnyside Pond, investigatory work had taken place which had identified that there had been two pipe collapses and three digs were required to fix them. There was also an issue with a lack of water flowing from a nearby field, and it was felt that the lack of flowing water had to be addressed before the repair works could take place.

4.

Heritage Youth Offending Service Arts Trail Project

To receive a presentation from Youth Offending Service regarding their Heritage Arts Trail Project.

Minutes:

Sue Scott, Stockport Youth Offending Service Manager and Karen Hilton, local artist attended the meeting to update the Committee on the Heritage Youth Offending Service Arts Trail Project.

 

The following comments were made/ issues raised:-

 

·         The project had been aimed at children currently attending Highfield Inclusion Partnership who had been referred from the police.

·         There would be a number of art installations along the trail, which ran through Reddish Vale Country Park, including a manholes designed by the young people involved in the project.

·         The project was being undertaken in partnership with a number of other organisations and groups including Friends of the Vale, teachers at Highfield Inclusion Partnership and the Community Safety Unit.

·         The young people involved were doing so on a voluntary basis and there had been a noticeable improvement in their behaviour throughout the project.

 

RESOLVED – That Sue and Karen be thanked for their attendance.

5.

Update on the Management of Reddish Vale Country Park

A representative of the Corporate Director for Place Management and Regeneration will attend the meeting and provide an update on issues affecting the management of Reddish Vale Country Park.

Minutes:

Wayne Bardsley, Greenspace Project Officer, attended the meeting and provided an update on issues affecting the management of Reddish Vale Country Park.

 

The following comments were made/ issues raised:-

 

·         The Friends of the Vale had organised an Easter event for Sunday 16 April 2017.

·         As part of the Keep Britain Tidy campaign, a litter picking event had been organised for Sunday 5 March 2017.

·         There had been reports of hare coursing on Reddish Vale Country Park.

 

RESOLVED – (1) That Wayne Bardsley be thanked for his attendance.

 

(2) That the Chair of the Ward Committee be requested to refer the matter of hare coursing on Reddish Vale Country Park to the Police, and that an update on the situation be provided at a future meeting.

RESOLVED – That the Democratic Services Manager be requested to invite representatives of Stockport Action for Voluntary Youth (SAVY) to the next meeting to provide an update on their current project on off-road bikes.
