A representative of the Deputy Chief Executive submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) summarising recent appeal decisions, listing current planning appeals and dates for local inquiries and informal hearings according to area committees.

Review of the Constitution - Town Centre Committee pdf icon PDF 59 KB

To consider a report of the Monitoring Officer.

 

The report details a proposal to ensure that all area committees have similar powers and duties with particular regard to the abolition of the Town Centre Committee and the return of its responsibilities to both the Central Stockport Area Committee and the Planning & Highways Regulation Committee.

 

As part of this realignment of responsibilities, it is also proposed that consideration should be given to the working definition of ‘strategic planning applications’ such that developments that outside the town centre but that were strategic in nature should be ultimately determined by the Planning & Highways Regulation Committee rather than the relevant area committee.

 

The Committee is recommended to comment on and note the report.
