To consider a report of the Assistant Director – Legal and Democratic Governance.

 

The report requests the Area Committee to appoint Councillors to lay wreaths on behalf of the Council at the Remembrance Day Services at Heaton Mersey War Memorial, Reddish War Memorial and at St Paul's Church, Heaton Moor on Sunday 12 November 2023.

 

The Area Committee is requested to make appointments at the Remembrance Services indicated.

A representative of the Assistant Director for Legal and Democratic Governance submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) requesting that the Area Committee appoint Councillors to lay wreaths on behalf of the Council at the Remembrance Day Services at Heaton Mersey War Memorial, Reddish War Memorial and at St Paul's Church, Heaton Moor on Sunday 12 November 2023.

 

RESOLVED – That approval be given to the appointment of the following Councillors to lay wreaths on behalf of the Council at the following sites on Sunday 12 November 2023:-

 

Heaton Mersey War Memorial      – Councillor Claire Vibert

Reddish War Memorial                – Councillor James Frizzell

St Paul’s Church Heaton Moor     - Councillor Dena Ryness

Councillor David Wilson requested that the removal of wreaths in the Reddish area following Remembrance Day be looked into as the preference would be for the wreaths to remain in place for as long as possible and not be taken away so soon after the event.

 

RESOLVED – (1) That the Strategic Head of Service & Monitoring Officer (Legal & Democratic Governance) be requested look into the removal of wreaths in the Reddish area following Remembrance Day as the preference would be for the wreaths to remain in place for as long as possible and not be taken away so soon after the event.

 

(2) That the following Councillors be appointed by the Area Committee to lay wreaths on behalf of the Council at the following sites on Sunday 14 November 2021: -

 

Heaton Mersey – Councillor Dean Fitzpatrick

 

Reddish War Memorial – Councillor David Wilson

 

Heaton Moor - Councillor Dena Ryness
