Minutes:

A representative of the Corporate Director for Place Management and Regeneration submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) regarding the Adswood Flood Mitigation Action Plan which had been developed from the Section 19 report from the Flood and Water Management Act into the September 2016 flood event in Stockport. The report reviewed the flooding history and subsequent investigation into the various factors that could have contributed to the flooding incident, as it specifically affected the community of Adswood.

The following comments were/issues raised:-

  • Ward Councillors enquired what steps the other riparian owners were taking to survey the culverted watercourse using CCTV.
  • The Area Committee was advised that Your Housing Group had appointed a contractor to carry out remediation works. Network Rail had no access to the culvert and were limited to what work they could carry out at the moment.
  • With regard to whether there would be regular monitoring of the situation, it was clarified that the Council did not own the culvert and could only recommend the riparian owners to keep the culvert in a good condition.
  • The gullies were now regularly checked and cleared on Adswood Road.

RESOLVED – That the report be noted and Officers be thanked for their work on this issue.
