RESOLVED – That planning permission be granted.

Erection of a new one form entry school building, alterations to site access, creation of a car park, subsequent demolition of existing school building and creation of a play area in its place, with associated works.

The Area committee is recommended to grant planning permission.

In respect of plan no. 069194 for erection of new one form entry school building, alterations to site access, creation of a car park, subsequent demolition of existing school building and creation of a play area in its place with associated works at St Johns Church of England Primary School, Poplar Street, Heaton Mersey,

a member of the public spoke against the application and a representative of the applicant spoke in support of the application,

it was then

RESOLVED – That the Planning and Highways Regulation Committee be recommended to grant planning permission subject to inclusion of appropriate conditions relating to:-

·         Where possible the retention of the trees at the head of Poplar Street

·         A construction management plan that has minimal disruption for local residents to be accompanied by an appropriate communication strategy.

·         The protection of badgers and bats

·         The provision of sprinklers in the new school building; and

·         Secured by Design measures to be incorporated within the building and site.
