To consider a report of the Corporate Director for Place Management & Regeneration.

 

The report details the results of a consultation exercise carried out with the residents of Padden Brook. Padden Brook Mews and Green Lane (part) and outlines proposals for the revocations of Traffic Regulations and the introduction of new Traffic Regulation Orders.

 

The Area Committee is requested to recommend that the Cabinet Member for Communities & Housing gives approval to the proposed revocations and new Traffic Regulation Orders as detailed in the report,

A representative of the Corporate Director for Place Management & Regeneration submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) detailing the results of a consultation exercise carried out with the residents of Padden Brook. Padden Brook Mews and Green Lane (part) and outlining proposals for the revocations of Traffic Regulations and the introduction of new Traffic Regulation Orders.

 

It was noted that the Area Committee had previously considered related proposals as part of a wider package of measures at its meeting on 7 August 2017 where it was agreed, following concerns from members and members of the public, to defer consideration of that element of the proposals relating to the design of the scheme between Green Lane and Padden Brook.

 

The Chair expressed her thanks to officers for working closely with members and the public to achieve an outcome which was now acceptable to local residents.

 

RESOLVED – That the Cabinet Member for Communities & Housing be recommended to give approval to the legal advertising of the following Traffic Regulation Order and, subject to the receipt of no objections within 21 days of the advertisement date, the subsequent making of the Orders:-

 

Revocations of existing Traffic Regulation Orders

 

The Bredbury and Romiley (Footpaths at Bredbury and Romiley and Woodley) Order 1967, Reference No. 6, Romiley, from Padden Brook to Green Lane for a distance of 130 feet.

 

Proposed Moving Traffic Regulation Orders

 

The following areas of footway are to be converted into a cycle track under Section 65(1) of the Highways Act 1980 so to provide a shared use cycle/pedestrian facility:

 

(i)         The connecting footpath between Green Lane and Padden Brook for its entire length.

(ii)        Green Lane, northern footway, from a point 40 metres east of the projected easterly kerb line of Howard Close for a distance of 4 metres in an easterly direction.

(iii)       Padden Brook, southerly footway, from a point 2 metres west of the projected easterly kerb line of Padden Brook for a distance of 2 metres in a westerly direction.

(iv)       Padden Brook, westerly footway, from the projected northerly kerb line of Padden Brook, in a southerly direction, for a distance of 3 metres.

(v)        Padden Brook, northerly footway, from a point 1.5 metres east of the projected easterly kerb line of Padden Brook Mews for a distance of 26 metres in an easterly direction.
