To consider a report of the Director of Place Management.

 

The report details the findings of a consultation exercise for the Road Safety around Schools scheme around Hursthead Infant & Junior Schools and seeks approval for the introduction of Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) and associated signage; implementation of dropped kerbs with tactile paving; new school warning signs; and for a contribution to be provided from the delegated ward budget.

 

The Area Committee is requested to recommend that the Cabinet Member for Highways, Parks and Leisure Services approves the legal advertising of the Traffic Regulation Orders set out in Appendix A, and as shown on Drawing 0305/62/HH/002, and subject to no objections being received within 21 days from the advertisement date, the subsequent making of the orders to be mainly funded from the Road Safety Around Schools Programme Budget and  at a part contribution cost of £2,000 from the Area Committee’s Delegated Budget (Bramhall South & Woodford ward allocation).

A representative of the Strategic Head of Service & Monitoring Officer (Legal & Democratic Governance) submitted a report of the Director of Place Management (copies of which had been circulated) detailing the findings of a consultation exercise for the Road Safety around Schools scheme around Hursthead Infant & Junior Schools and seeks approval for the introduction of Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) and associated signage; implementation of dropped kerbs with tactile paving; new school warning signs; and for a contribution to be provided from the delegated ward budget.

 

It was commented that Members welcomed the proposal and inclusion of the flashing lights and 20pmh speed limit on Ack Lane West and had been previously consulted with the officers to improve the plans. Members expressed disappointment that the zebra crossing hadn’t been included, however felt the proposals went someway to improve road safety around Hursthead Infant & Junior School.
