Proposed Traffic Regulation Orders - Astley Street / Chestergate

Decision Maker: Cabinet Member for Climate Change & Environment

Decision status: Recommendations approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Decision:

The Cabinet Member for Sustainable Stockport considered a report detailing a package of traffic orders associated with the Astley Street and Chestergate highways and bridge works.

It was noted that the Central Stockport Area Committee previously considered the matter at its meeting in April 2019 and endorsed the proposals.  The Cabinet Member for Sustainable Stockport subsequently gave approval to the proposals which were published as an executive decision with the reference CMDSS4.

However, an exemption for buses, taxis and cycles associated with the Prohibition of Right Turns between Swaine Street onto Chestergate and between Viaduct Street onto Chestergate was omitted in error from the original schedule contained in the report and accordingly, it is necessary to give consideration to a revised package of proposals.

The Cabinet Member for Sustainable Stockport has therefore given approval to the statutory legal advertising of the updated package of Traffic Regulation Orders detailed in Appendices A and B of the report and, subject to the receipt of no objections within twenty one days of the advertisement date, the subsequent making of the orders with any costs being met from within the budget for the Stockport Interchange project.
