Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
The Director of Public Health has agreed for the Council enter into
a rebate agreement around prescribing a branded form of
Buprenorphine to appropriate substance misuse clients and
recovering monies already paid.
By signing up to this agreement it is expected that savings will be
made to the prescribing budget line within the Public Health
substance misuse budget. Prescribing will still be undertaken based
on the clinical needs of the client and other prescribing options
will still be available.
This rebate agreement is a mechanism to allow
us to get a rebate on the drugs cost and mitigate against rising
costs. It is in addition to other prescribing options which are
available, so this option has not been chosen instead of other
options.
There is no requirement to use this product exclusively and the
scheme is not dependent on the purchase of minimum stock levels.
The company has not made any inducement or suggested or persuaded
Stockport Council to take part in the Scheme.
Any prescribing decision would always be made by clinical
professionals based on the needs of the client.
