The Gambling Act (2005) requires that all Licensing Authorities must publish a statement of the principles of licensing that they wish to apply when exercising their functions under the Act. This statement must be published at least every 3 years and is therefore due for review and implementation by January 2019.
The Gambling Act (2005) requires Licensing Authorities to consult on the statement of principles before publication.
The Corporate Director will be asked to approve the commencement of the consultation period.
The Corporate Director for Place Management & Regeneration has approved the commencement of a consultation on the Gambling Act (2005) Statement of Principles of Licensing 2019-2022.
The proposed timetable is as follows:-
10th October – consultation closes
29th October 2018 - Scrutiny Committee
13th November 2018 - Cabinet
29th November 2018 - Full Council
2nd January 2019 - Policy statement published with formal notice
31st January 2019 - Policy becomes effective
