Purpose:

The Council is in receipt of an application to establish a Neighbourhood Area for Marple under the provisions of the Localism Act 2015. The Council must determine whether the application meets the necessary regulatory requirements and approve a boundary for the area.

Decision:

The Executive considered an application from Marple Civic Society to establish Marple Neighbourhood Area under the provisions of the Localism Act 2011and recommended that the Council Meeting designate the area submitted by the Marple Civic Society as the Marple Neighbourhood Area.

Alternative options considered:

To recommend the designation of an area different to that applied for. This was discounted as there were no compelling reasons to do so.
