Purpose:

The Executive will be asked to consider proposals relating to investment in the Councils core IT infrastructure. Including the replacing the old Storage Area Network (SAN) and the server virtualisation platform; improving the Councils IT disaster recovery service and the provision of a new, fit for purpose, Data Centre facility.

Decision:

The Executive considered the outcome of a comprehensive review of the Council’s ICT infrastructure, including the data centre, and approved a proposed ICT Investment programme set out at Option 2 in the report (SAN, Virtualisation and DR Platform in a new date centre).

Alternative options considered:

Option 1 – maintaining existing infrastructure and data centre and replacing components as and when. This was not proceeded with as the overall cost would be higher than Option 2.
