Decision details

Adult Social Care proposals regarding the future of the community meals provision

Decision Maker: Executive

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

The Executive is asked to consider proposals to modernise the Council's approach to community meals provision. This would involve officers working closely with people (and their families/carers) to make more individually tailored meal arrangements as part of the support planning process using personal budgets as appropriate. The Council would continue to provide assistance to people in arranging meals support but not in future act as a commissioner or provider of the service.

The Executive is asked to approve further work to examine the proposal as outlined; initially this would be the completion of an equality impact assessment informed by a full consultation with key stakeholders.

Decision:

The Executive considered proposals to modernise the Council’s approach to community meals provision and ancillary catering services to bring this in line with the direction of social care policy toward individual choice and personal budgets and approved the proposed consultation with key stakeholders on the potential de-commissioning of the Service.
