To provide an update on the housing
development proposals for Brinnington and to seek agreement for the
Council to enter into a Development Agreement with Countryside
Properties, the Council’s appointed preferred
developer.
Decision type: Key
Reason Key: Disposal or aquisition of land >£500,000;
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Wards affected: Brinnington & Central;
Notice of proposed decision first published: 14/06/2016
This decision will be taken under urgency procedures.
Reason for urgency:
The development agreement has been under development for some time and is overdue for signing/sealing. Further delays in this process will impact on:
• Resident and Member expectations
• Developer willingness to enter into the agreement (further delays will add to the cost implications for the developer)
• the delivery timetable for the new sports centre (and financial model if the housing developer pulls out)
• the start on site timescales for the housing (initial clearance works have already been undertaken with temporary barriers having been put in place)
