Investment Proposition

In September the Council adopted a new Economic Plan, Transport Plan and Housing Plan. These documents set out the thematic strategic priorities in relation to these interlinked areas and in line with the overall strategic objectives identified in the One Stockport Borough Plan.

Alongside the preparation of these plans, work has been undertaken to review the resulting investment priorities to ensure that the Council’s approach to capital investment is fully cognisant of the issues and opportunities raised in the plans.

This has been complemented by a review of the Council’s track record in delivering placemaking and regeneration, and a review of best practice being undertaken by local authorities across the country.

The Investment Proposition seeks to articulate how the Council will deliver the priorities identified in the Economic, Transport and Housing plans, and identify the overall priorities for investment going forward.

It is intended that the Investment Proposition be used to inform the Council’s Capital Strategy, due for consideration in early 2023, and then form the basis of the Council’s approach to bidding for capital funding opportunities.

Members are recommended to review and comment on the draft Investment Proposition.
