Consultation process
The council’s Equality Impact Assessment
guidance recognises a number of groups who may suffer disadvantage
in addition to those with protected characteristics as identified
by the Equality Act 2010. One of these groups is the armed forces
community. The Covenant itself and the work of the Armed Forces
Covenant Steering Group seek to ensure through effective
partnership working that service personnel, those who have
previously served, and the armed forces community do not face
disadvantage as a result of their service. The initiatives outlined
in this annual report all seek to benefit Stockport’s armed
forces community.
