We, the undersigned We, the undersigned, are urgently calling on the council to reinstate the school crossing patrol lady that is located on Berrycroft Lane as this crossing is used by the close by Primary School and two nearby Secondary Schools.
Moona has been a trusted and familiar face to generations of local families, helping countless children cross the road safely on their way to and from school. Her removal from this vital role has caused widespread concern, especially given the high volume of fast-moving traffic on Berrycroft Lane.
The road in question is extremely busy and dangerous, and without a crossing patrol, children are now at serious risk of injury or worse. It is simply unacceptable to gamble with children’s lives for the sake of budget cuts or administrative changes. The presence of a lollipop lady is not a luxury — it is a necessary, life-saving service.
We strongly urge the council to reconsider this decision and reinstate a school crossing patrol service without delay, befo
I myself over the past couple of days have witnessed children
crossing at this extremely busy junction and having to cross
inbetween stationary vehicles that have stopped on the crossing.
Due to volume of traffic children and adults have a restricted view
when crossing at the junction during rush hour traffic and some
children are simply unseen by vehicles.
