23/11/2021 - Revenues and Benefits Write Offs over £10,000 ref: 5333    For Determination

Decision:

The Cabinet Member for Resources, Commissioning & Governance has given approval to the write off of 10 outstanding debts (totalling £184,492.59) that are considered irrecoverable. These include 2 Council Tax accounts, 4 Business Rates accounts,1 Sundry Debt account, and 3 Housing Benefit overpayments.

 

Every possible method of recovery has been attempted to recover these debts. However, for the reasons stated in the report, there is no further recovery action that can be taken to recover the money owed.

 

If circumstances change and it becomes possible to recover the debt, recovery can be reinstated even if the debt has been written off.

 

It is recommended that these debts are now written off as all attempts to recover the monies owed have been exhausted.

The Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration has considered a number of objections received to elements of the traffic regulation orders associated with the development of a 4.1km two-way segregated cycle route which links Bramhall Park to Simpson’s Corner in Hazel Grove (the Bramhall Park to A6 scheme under the Mayor’s Challenge Fund) and has agreed that notwithstanding the objections received, the orders should be made as advertised with the exception of the following: -

 

Fir Road Bramhall, Arundel Avenue & Jacksons Lane, Hazel Grove (Prohibition and Limited Waiting) (Revocation) Order

In response to the objections received associated with the ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ on Fir Road, this be deleted from the Order and instead bollards be introduced to prevent parking on the foot / cycleway.
