The Executive Councillor (Communities and Housing) has approved the allocation of £708,000.00 from the 2016-17 Transition Fund to support improvements in the Borough’s greenspaces.

£615,000 will be directed towards the improvement and replacement of play areas based on the findings of the Play Review undertaken in 2015. These are detailed in the report accompanying this decision.

The remaining sum of £93,000 will be directed towards surfacing works at destination / neighbourhood parks that have severely deteriorated access routes.

The Executive considered the recommendations contained in the recently commissioned of a Play Review and agreed that:-

·         the recommendations of the Review be noted and the proposed actions developed in response to them (set out in Appendix B and the Action Plan at Appendix C) be approved, and

·         the Corporate Director for Place Management & Regeneration be requested to develop proposals for the implementation of the investment opportunities identified in Appendix D and to identify funding, including the use of Transition Grant funding.
