Issue - decisions

At its meeting on 17 December 2013, the Executive agreed to publish statutory proposals in relation to three primary school expansions. The Executive also agreed to delegate authority for the final decisions to the Corporate Director for People, in consultation with the Executive Councillor (Lifelong Learning & Achievement), subject to there being no significant objections during the representation period. Statutory proposals were subsequently published followed by a four week representation period. The outcomes of the representation period have been presented for consideration in taking a final decision on each of the proposals.

The Corporate Director, in consultation with the Executive Councillor, has approved statutory proposals, without modification, to:

1.    expand Abingdon Primary School from 1 form of entry to 2 forms of entry with effect from 1 September 2015, subject to the following condition: planning permission to be granted by 30 April 2015;

2.    expand Cale Green Primary School from 1 form of entry to 1.5 forms of entry with effect from 1 September 2014, subject to the following condition: planning permission to be granted by 31 July 2014;

3.    expand Warren Wood Primary School from 1.5 forms of entry to 2 forms of entry with effect from 1 September 2015, subject to the following condition: planning permission to be granted by 30 April 2015.

Details of the representations received and the responses to them are detailed in the accompanying report. An Equality Impact Assessment has also been undertaken.

The Executive Meeting considered the outcomes of consultation with stakeholders on proposals to expand the number of primary school places at Abingdon, Cale Green and Warren Wood Primary Schools and agreed to

(i)      the publication of statutory notices for the proposed expansion of the following schools:

From September 2014

·         Cale Green Primary School from 1 to 1.5 forms of entry

From September 2015

·         Abingdon Primary School from 1 to 2 forms of entry

·         Warren Wood Primary School from 1.5 to 2 forms of entry

(ii)       the delegation to the Corporate Director for People, in consultation with the Executive Councillor (Lifelong Learning & Achievement) of the final decisions in respect of the proposed expansions, subject to there being no significant objections during the representation period following publication of the statutory proposals.
