The Cabinet Member for Finance & Resources
has considered a report setting out the context, considerations and
rationale for the proposed local approach to the allocation of the
Household Support Fund Phase 6 (HSF6).
Since December 2020, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)
have provided local authorities with grants to support vulnerable
households. The Household Support Fund (HSF) succeeded the Covid
Winter Package (CWP) and the Local Support Grant (LSG). For the
period December 2020 to September 2024, Stockport received
£15.166m across nine grant schemes.
On 2 September 2024, the UK Government announced that the HSF would
be extended from 1 October 2024 to 31 March 2025. Stockport’s
allocation for HSF5 is £2.163m (bringing the total allocation
for Stockport to £17.329m).
A HSF6 delivery plan will be submitted to DWP on 1 November 2024 as
required by the grant conditions.
The Cabinet Member for Finance & Resources has then given
approval to the to the delivery plan for HSF6 as detailed in
Section 6 of the report.
