Heatons Active Neighbourhood

To consider a report of the Corporate Director for Place Management.

 

The report provides an update on and the outcomes of the Heaton Chapel Active Neighbourhood post trial consultation.

 

The Area Committee is asked to approve the research and design of a permanent active neighbourhood scheme for the trial area taking into account the results of the post-trial consultation exercise.

Minutes:

A representative of the Corporate Director for Place Management submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) providing an update on and the outcomes of the Heaton Chapel Active Neighbourhood post trial consultation.

 

The following comments were made/issues raised: -

 

·       Clarification was sought regarding the modal filters and the views of the local residents to not implement it. In response, it was noted that the views of the Committee would be taken into account and options would be presented to the Committee.

·       Members noted that there needed to be lessons learnt and do better through the process e.g. air quality control.

·       It was commented that there needed to be a response to what local residents needed e.g. better looking gates.

·       It was commented that there needed to be work done regarding how traffic could be managed around the Broadstone School.

·       Could consideration be given to increasing the number of pedestrian crossing points along Manchester Road.

 

RESOLVED – That the Cabinet Member (Economy & Regeneration) be recommended to approve the research and design of a permanent Active Neighbourhood scheme for the trial area taking into account the results of the post-trial consultation exercise.
