Urgent Decisions

To report that the Deputy Chief Executive has taken urgent action under the Constitution to make a grant of £1,000 from the Ward Flexibility Funding Budget towards the cost of replacing the disrepair of the current lunchtime play shed, which would benefit the wellbeing of the children and help make use of the environment.

 

The decision was taken as urgent action as the last Area Committee meeting was inquorate and the decision could not be taken. The applicant needed to urgently secure the grant monies to replace the shed before the start of the new term and as such, the ordinary approval process could not be followed.

Review of Polling Districts, Polling Places and Polling Stations pdf icon PDF 237 KB

To consider a report of the Chief Executive.

 

The report sets out the changes made to the proposed polling arrangements within the area following the feedback received during the Stage One consultation only. To seek the views of the Committee on the current proposed polling arrangements within the area in order to inform the Polling District Review currently underway.

 

In the event any further proposals are received via the Stage Two consultation prior to the committee meeting, but after the publication of this report, then an update will be brought to the meeting

 

The views of the Area Committee are sought on the proposed polling arrangements. Any comments or suggestions will then be considered, together with those received via the Stage Two public consultation. A report containing the final proposals will be submitted to the Corporate, Resource Management & Governance Scrutiny Committee on 11 October 2022, then the Cabinet Meeting on 1 November 2022 and the Council Meeting on 17 November 2022.

Partial Removal of Windlehurst Road Traffic Calming pdf icon PDF 315 KB

To consider a report of the Director of Place Management.

 

The report seeks approval for the legal advertising associated with the removal of specific traffic calming measures along Windlehurst Road and for notification to be given to affected frontages. This report is supplementary to the reports presented at the March 2021 Marple Area Committee, August 2021 and June 2022 Marple Area Committees.

 

The Area Committee is asked to comment on and recommend that the Cabinet Member for Highways and Leisure Services approves the legal notification for the removal of the traffic calming features as described within Appendix A.

Etherow Sailing Club Lights Over the Water Event pdf icon PDF 270 KB

To consider a report of the Director for Place Management.

 

The report provides the details of an event application that has been received from Etherow Country Park Sailing Club (ECPSC) to hold a Lights Over the Water Community Event at Etherow Park Saturday 12 November 2022. The event will run from 6pm until 9pm on the 12 November 2022. Permission has been requested to use the park until 11pm to close the event.

 

The Area Committee is asked to approve the application subject to all appropriate paperwork, licences and fees being submitted to the Council.

Marple Poppy Appeal Ride of Remembrance pdf icon PDF 265 KB

To consider a report of the Director for Place Management.

 

The report details the request from the Marple Area Poppy Appeal to finish the Ride of Remembrance within Marple Memorial Park. The event will take place on Sunday 23 October 2022, permission has been requested to use the park from 1.00pm until 4.30pm to enable event set up and close down of the event. The Ride of Remembrance involves 100 motorbikes riding through the town. Each rider will carry one of the large street poppies with the name of one of the fallen men from the Marple area. Once in the park the poppies carried by the riders will be transferred onto the Wall of Remembrance. Money raised from the event will go to the Royal British Legion.

 

The Area Committee is asked to approve the request, subject to all appropriate paperwork, licences and fees being submitted to the Council.

Park Use Application - Brabyns Park Bonfire & Fireworks Display 05/11/2022 pdf icon PDF 274 KB

To consider a report of the Director for Place Management.

 

The report details an event application from Marple Scouts and Girlguiding to hold their annual Bonfire and Fireworks Display at Brabyns Park on Saturday 5 November 2022. The event will run from 7pm until 9pm on the 5 November 2022. However, the organiser will require access from 8am on the 5 November 2022 to set up and will vacate the site at 10am on the 6 November 2022 after completing a litter pick.  There will be an entrance fee payable, tickets will be available prior to the event and will be £8 for adults and £4 for kids. Food will be available to purchase from a catering van. First Aid will be provided by Kinder Scout Mountain Rescue Team and all proceeds will go to the Girlguiding and Scouting Marple Districts.

 

The Area Committee is asked to approve the application subject to all appropriate paperwork, licences and fees being submitted.
