To consider a report of the Director of Development & Regeneration.

 

The report provides an update on delivering Marple District Centre Action Plan including recent successes and priorities for the next 6 months.

 

The Area Committee is asked to:-

 

a)    Note the progress made in delivering projects and events.

b)    Provide feedback on initial ideas for priority projects to allocate the £5,000 UKSPF which will be discussed with Marple Vision Group.

Ward Flexibility Funding - Greater Manchester Independent School (Marple) pdf icon PDF 574 KB

To consider an application for Ward Flexibility Funding received from Greater Manchester Independent School (Marple) for a grant of £500 (£250 from each ward allocation) towards the cost of installing a defibrillator on the outside of the school to provide a valuable community resource.

Ward Flexibility Funding - Stockport Armed Forces Breakfast Club pdf icon PDF 572 KB

To consider an application for Ward Flexibility Funding received from Stockport Armed Forces Breakfast Club for a grant of £55.88 (£27.94 from each ward allocation) towards the cost of materials for use in fundraising, publicity and raising awareness of the club, which aims to tackle isolation and loneliness in veterans.

7.

Review of Outcomes Tour pdf icon PDF 126 KB

To consider a report of the Deputy Chief Executive.

 

The report announces the intention to hold the Annual Review of Outcomes on Friday, 4 October 2024 and requests the Area Committee to submit its recommendations for a completed development site within its area to be included on the list of sites to be inspected by the Tour delegates. In addition the Area Committee is asked to provide nominations for delegates to attend.

 

The Area Committee is recommended to:

 

(a)            Nominate a completed development site to be included on the list of sites to be inspected on the 2024 Annual Review Tour.

 

(b)            Nominate Members to attend the Annual Review Tour on 4 October 2024.

8.

Bus Pinch Points - Zebra Crossing, Compstall Road, Marple Bridge pdf icon PDF 569 KB

To consider a report of the Director of Place Management.

 

This report has been prepared to report the findings of a consultation exercise for the proposed Compstall Road, Marple Bridge, Zebra Crossing funded by the Government’s City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement (CRSTS).

 

The Area Committee is asked to comment on this report and provide a recommendation to the Cabinet Member (Parks, Highways and Transport Services) on whether to approve the following Zebra Crossing scheme and progress legal advertising of the associated TROs.

Marple Area Cycling and Walking Strategy (MACAWS) pdf icon PDF 410 KB

To consider a report of the Director of Place Management.

 

This report prsents the findings of a public consultation exercise for the Marple Area Cycling and Walking Strategy (MACAWS) which took place from 4th September to 9th October 2023, on a package of potential highway measures in Marple Town Centre under the name of Marple Area Cycling and Walking Strategy, or MACAWS for short.

 

The Area Committee is asked to comment on this report and provide a recommendation to the Cabinet Member (Parks, Highways and Transport Services) on whether to approve a number of highway measures for future funding bids as follows:-

 

Measure A:  Improved pedestrian and cycle facilities at the Stockport Road / Station Road / Church Lane including a Sparrow Crossing of Stockport Road with segregated pedestrian and cycle facilities and cycle connections to adjacent residential streets.

 

Measure B: Closure of Church Lane to motorised vehicles at the junction of Stockport Road / Station Road, and introduction of two-way operation on Church Lane west of Leigh Avenue.

 

Measure C: Replacement of the Hibbert Lane / Church Lane roundabout with a signal junction.

 

Measure D: Traffic calming and improved pedestrian and cycle crossing facilities on Church Lane between Hibbert Lane and Brickbridge Road.

 

Measure F: Amendment to the Stockport Road / Hibbert Lane junction, including extension of the right-turn lane into Hibbert Lane.

 

Additional Measure 1: An extended 20mph speed limit area around the Town Centre in particular to include the full length of Hollins Lane, Hibbert Lane from south of Church Lane to Stockport Road and Church Lane from the School warning sign south of Brickbridge Road to Hibbert Lane (subject to approval and advertising of TRO’s).

 

Additional Measure 2: An area wide 20mph speed limit on residential streets in Marple as indicated on Plan F/5194/D/118 in Appendix B (subject to approval and advertising of TRO’s).

 

Additional Measure 3:  A controlled crossing on Brabyns Brow in the vicinity of Marple Station and other improvements to walking and cycling routes to Marple Station.

Resident Parking Scheme Consultation Results - Marple District Centre pdf icon PDF 684 KB

To consider a report of the Director of Place Management.

 

This report details the findings of a consultation exercise undertaken to ascertain residents’ appetite for the introduction of a residents permit parking scheme on various streets within Marple District Centre at a cost of £6,000 from the Marple South & High Lane Delegated Ward Budget.

 

The Area Committee is asked to note the contents of the report detailing the consultation responses and to acknowledge and ratify the Network Management’s recommendation that no further action be taken in this area as the representations received at consultation do not meet the minimum criteria to progress a scheme as per the approved Stockport Council Residential Parking Scheme Policy.
