Minutes:

The Strategic Head of Place Making and Planning submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) which summarised the proposed approach to the Stockport Local Plan Consultation Summary.

The following comments were made/issues raised:

·         A letter had been received from Michael Gove, Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, in the last couple of days which was significant, and the implications of the letter needed to be digested.

·         A short discussion took place as to whether the discussion on this item should continue or whether the meeting should reconvene.  It was agreed that the discussion would continue.

·         Members felt that consultation needed to be at the most local level and undertaken on a ward basis where possible.  This was particularly important as some areas were more impacted than others.  It was felt that the most impacted areas should have a drop in event.

·         The Working Party considered that elected members should be used as resources as they could encourage people to come along to events and make constructive comments.  At the events members could make introductions and ensure that voices are heard.

·         It was also going to be important to engage neighbourhood forums as they are good advocates for the process, have good contacts and understand the issues.

RESOLVED – That the report be noted.
