To consider a report of the Assistant Director for Legal and Democratic Governance.

 

The report provides an update on progress since the last meeting on decisions taken by the Area Committee, including its executive Sub Committee, and details the current position on ward flexibility funding, the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust, and delegated budget.

 

To receive a verbal update (if any) from the Democratic Services Officer on the progression and/ or success of projects which have received a grant from the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust to assist members of the Area Committee in the monitoring of the effectiveness of the fund.

 

The Area Committee is requested to note the report.

A representative of the Assistant Director for Legal and Democratic Governance submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) which provided an update on progress since the last meeting on decisions taken by the Area Committee, including its executive Sub Committee, and detailed the current position on ward flexibility funding, the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust, and delegated budget.

 

It was noted that a response from Transport for Greater Manchester relating to the motion ‘Tackling the Councillor Lane/ Bird Hall Road junction’ would be sought and circulated to members of the Area Committee in due course.

The Chair had received a statement from Peter Cooke (Neighbourhoods Manager, Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council)relating to the report concerning a Tree Preservation Order at 329 - 351 Wilmslow Road, Heald Green. Members were asked to withdraw item 8 ‘Proposed Tree Preservation Order at 329 – 351 Wilmslow Road, Heald Green’ from the agenda at the request of officers from the Neighbourhoods Service. It was reported that officers wished to provide a more comprehensive report to the next meeting of the Area Committee.

 

RESOLVED – That agenda item 8 ‘Proposed Tree Preservation Order at 329 - 351 Wilmslow Road, Heald Green’ be withdrawn from the agenda.

Neighbourhood policing

Councillors and members of the public were invited to raise neighbourhood policing issues with the local neighbourhood policing team.

 

Inspector Martin Baker (Greater Manchester Police) was unable to attend the meeting and had provided a written update to the Area Committee in advance of the meeting. Any queries would be fed back to Inspector Baker for a written response.

 

Residents had raised concerns around drug dealing near the Micker Brook path and it was asked that officers increase patrols in the area.

 

RESOLVED – That the report be noted.

Ward Flexibility Funding - Make a Difference pdf icon PDF 581 KB

To consider an application for Ward Flexibility Funding received from Make a Difference for a grant of £500 from the Cheadle Hulme North ward allocation towards the cost of running additional arts and craft sessions at a wellbeing café (Heald Green). The Friday Hub supports people who are in isolation, lonely, elderly, have mobility issues and may be experiencing anxiety or mental health issues.

A representative of the Assistant Director for Legal and Democratic Governance submitted an application (copies of which had been circulated) received on behalf of Make a Difference for a grant of £500 from the Ward Flexibility Funding budget (Cheadle Hulme North ward allocation) towards the cost of running additional arts and craft sessions at a wellbeing café (Heald Green).

 

RESOLVED – That consideration of the application be deferred to the next meeting of the Area Committee to enable the applicant to attend to speak to their application.

The report details findings of a consultation exercise and seeks Cabinet Member approval for the introduction of the proposed Traffic Regulation Order on Wilmslow Road, Cheadle. 

 

The Area Committee is requested to recommend that the Cabinet Member for Parks, Highways & Transport Services approves the legal advertising of the Traffic Regulation Order set out in Appendix A and shown on drawing no NM8-5221-01 Rev B, and subject to no objections being received within 21 days from the advertisement date, that the order be made (at a cost of £1200, to be funded by the Cheadle West & Gatley delegated ward budget).

The report seeks Cabinet Member approval for the installation of trial markings on the footway of Outwood Drive at the side of No. 225 Finney Lane, Heald Green, as shown on drawing No. NM1 Outwood Drive-01. 

 

The Area Committee is requested to recommend that the Cabinet Member for Parks, Highways & Transport Services approves the installation of the trial markings (at a cost of £250, to be funded from the Heald Green delegated ward budget).
