Request for a variation to the Hackney Carriage Tariff PDF 152 KB To consider a report of the Director of Place Management.
The report informs the Committee of a request to increase the current Hackney Carriage tariff.
The report further informs the Committee of the intention to propose the compulsory acceptance of card payments in Hackney Carriage vehicles in addition to cash payments and to seek the committee’s views on this point.
The Committee are invited to provide comments on the proposed fare increase for Hackney Carriages and on the proposal to prepare a further report outlining the case to make credit card payments compulsory for taxi while maintain the ability to allow cash payments.

The report further informed the Committee of the intention to propose the compulsory acceptance of card payments in Hackney Carriage vehicles in addition to cash payments and to seek the committee’s views on this point.
The following comments were made/issues raised:
· The Committee expressed the view that on the whole the changes were very positive for Stockport. · Members stressed the importance of ensuring that vulnerable residents could still make cash payments.
RESOLVED – That the report be noted.

Exclusion of the Public and the Public Interest Test To consider whether it is in the public interest to exclude the public during the consideration of agenda items 6 - 9 that are marked "not for publication" by virtue of the paragraph 1 of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended), as they contain ‘information relating to an individual’
Minutes: RESOLVED – That in order to prevent the disclosure of information which was not for publication, the public be excluded from the meeting during consideration of agenda items 7 - 10, relating to paragraph 1 (Information relating to any individual) and paragraph 2 (Information which is likely to reveal the identity of an individual) of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972.

Case Number P1790 To consider a report of the Director for Place Management.
The report details the previous convictions of a new applicant for a Private Hire Driver’s licence.
The Committee is requested to consider whether the applicant is a fit and proper person to hold a Private Hire driver’s licence.

Minutes: A representative of the Director of Place Management submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) which informed the Committee of the convictions related to an existing driver and requested the Committee to consider whether the driver remained a fit and proper person to continue to hold a Private Hire driver’s licence. The Committee interviewed the driver, who was accompanied by a friend/translator in relation to these matters.
RESOLVED – That the driver’s licence be suspended for a period of two weeks.

The Committee is requested to consider whether the applicant is a fit and proper person to hold a Private Hire driver’s licence.

The Committee is requested to consider whether the applicant is a fit and proper person to continue to hold an Operator’s licence.
