Chair's Announcements

The Chair announced that the Bramhall Festival would be held on Saturday, 24 June 2017 and that there would be associated road closures for most of the day, which included that part of Bramhall Lane South, south of its junction with Lumb Lane.

 

It was further announced that Lane End School would be celebrating its 50th anniversary on Friday, 23 June 2017.  The school was proposing to mark the occasion by a sponsored jog throughout Cheadle Hulme which would involve the closure of Station Road for part of the morning.

Neighbourhood Policing

Councillors and members of the public are invited to raise ‘Neighbourhood Policing’ issues with the local Neighbourhood Policing Team.

The Chair reported that representatives of Greater Manchester Police had been unable to attend the meeting on this occasion.

Public Realm

The local Public Realm Inspector will attend the meeting to provide an update on matters raised at the last committee meetings. Councillors and Members of the public are invited to raise issues affecting local environmental quality.

Carolyn Turner (Public Realm Inspector) attended the meeting to report on current issues and to answer questions from Councillors and members of the public in relation to environmental and highways issues within the area represented by the Bramhall and Cheadle Hulme South Area Committee.

 

The following comments were made/ issues raised:-

 

·         It was requested that priority be given to the cleansing of gullies on Woodford Road, Woodford.

·         Concern was expressed in relation to ongoing drainage issues associated with the footpath which ran to the rear of Bramhall Methodist Church.

·         It was requested that an update be provided to the next meeting of the Area Committee relating to the enforcement of fly posting and the number of prosecutions that had been pursued by the Council against those responsible.

 

RESOLVED – That Carolyn Turner be thanked for her attendance.

To consider an application from Bramhall Together Trust for a grant from the area flexibility fund towards the cost of events in the Bramhall area.

Jonathan Dawson attended the meeting and submitted an application on behalf of the Bramhall Together Trust for ward flexibility funding towards the cost of events in the Bramhall area.

 

RESOLVED - That approval be given to the award of a grant of £1,250 (£750 from the Bramhall South & Woodford ward allocation and £500 from the Bramhall North ward allocation) to the Bramhall Together Trust towards the cost of events in the Bramhall area.

RESOLVED – That approval be given to the award of a grant of £399 to the Friends of Hesketh Park from the Ward Flexibility Budget (Cheadle Hulme South ward allocation) towards the cost of purchasing gazebos.

RESOLVED – That approval be given to the award of a grant of £660 to North Park Seniors from the Ward Flexibility Budget (Bramhall North ward allocation) towards the cost of monthly meetings at Parkside Social Club and trips out.

To report the findings of a consultation exercise which had been undertaken with residents in relation to the introduction of No Waiting At Any Time traffic regulation orders on of Fir Road, Seal Road, Colwyn Road and Damery Court, Bramhall.

 

The Area Committee is recommended to give approval to statutory advertisement of the package of traffic regulation orders, as detailed in the report, at a cost of £750 to be funded from the Area Committee’s Delegated Budget (Bramhall North ward allocation) and subject to no objections being received within 21 days from the advertisement date, the subsequent making of the order.

A representative of the Democratic Services Manager submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) updating the Area Committee on progress on decisions taken by the Area Committee since the last meeting and the current position on the Area Flexibility and the Delegated budget.

 

RESOLVED – (1) That the report be noted.

 

(2) That the Corporate Director for Place Management & Regeneration be requested to attend the next meeting of the Area Committee to explain the reason for the delays associated with the implementation of those decisions of the Area Committee contained within the Progress Report.

 

(3) That the Corporate Director for Place Management & Regeneration be requested to clarify the progress of the following two schemes that had previously been submitted by the Area Committee for investigation:-

 

·         The extension of the existing No Waiting At Any Time traffic regulation orders at the junction of Church Road and Ravenoak Road, Cheadle Hulme around the junction to include the roundabout to prevent parking on the roundabout by patrons of The Church Inn public house.

·         The extension of the existing No Waiting At Any Time traffic regulation orders on both sides of Woodfield Road, Cheadle Hulme to extend around its junction with Church Road.
