Chair's Announcements

To receive any announcements from the Chair about local community events or issues.

The Chair announced that council was in the pre-election publicity period up to and including the General Election on 4 July 2024 and reminded the Area Committee that, during that time, the council cannot be seen to be supporting any political campaigning of any political group or party.

 

The Chair announced that Romiley Forum had reopened, following its closure over RAAC issues. The Chair expressed thanks on behalf of the Area Committee for the work of NK Theatre Arts, council officers and contractors in achieving the reopening of the theatre.

 

The Chair reminded residents that the deadline to register to vote in the upcoming General Election was midnight on 18 June 2024, and the deadline to apply for a postal vote was 5 pm on 19 June 2024.

 

An environmental event was scheduled to take place at Mosscare St Vincent on Wednesday, 19 June 2024. The event was open to all, not just to tenants at Mosscare. Anyone interested in participating in a green event was encouraged to attend between 5 and 7 pm and to speak with the Sustainability Manager.

 

Last month Bredbury Library had held a ‘Dig It’ day event which had encouraged visitors to work on the beds in front of the library to help make them more sustainable. Another Dig It day event was planned for next month.

 

A PC drop-in session was scheduled to take place at the Start Point Cafe in Woodley on Wednesday, 19 June at 11 am to 12.30 pm. The session provided an opportunity for residents to speak to the Woodley PC.

 

The New Beaches annual art exhibition was scheduled to take place at St Barnabus Church on 5 and 6 July 2024.

 

The Woodley and Bredbury Community Neighbours Drop-In was scheduled to take place at 6.30 pm on 9 July 2024 at Bredbury St Marks Cricket Club.

To consider a report of the Director of Place Management.

 

The application sets out the intention of the Friends of Chadkirk to host their annual Well Dressing Community Event at Chadkirk Country Estate on Saturday 27 July 2024, between 12pm and 5pm (with set up 26 July and close down 29 July).

 

The Area Committee is requested to grant the application subject to the event organiser obtaining and providing the relevant paperwork at least 2 weeks prior to the event, including any necessary licences, health and safety documentation, insurance certificates, a satisfactory traffic management plan and the payment of agreed fees and charges.
