To approve as a correct record and sign the Minutes of the meeting held on 2 August 2021.

The Minutes (copies of which had been circulated) of the meeting held on 2 August 2021 were approved as a correct record and signed by the Chair subject to the fourth paragraph under Minute 8 – Mayoral Challenge Fund (MCF) Heatons Cycle Link – Heaton Mersey Common Amendments, the word “A55” being amended to correctly read “A555”.

Councillors and officers were invited to declare any interests they had in any of the items on the agenda for the meeting.

To consider an applications for Ward Flexibility Funding received from the Friends of Stockport Cemeteries (FOSC) for a grant of £1,000 (Heatons North ward allocation only) towards the cost of installing welfare facilities within Willow Grove Cemetery (Natsol – full access compost toilet with metal building).

A representative of the Strategic Head of Service & Monitoring Officer (Legal & Democratic Governance) submitted an application for Ward Flexibility Funding received on behalf of Friends of Stockport Cemeteries towards the cost of installing welfare facilities within Willow Grove Cemetery (Natsol – full access compost toilet with metal building).

RESOLVED – That approval be given to an application from Friends of Stockport Cemeteries (FOSC) for a grant of £1,000 from the Ward Flexibility Funding Budget (£500 from Reddish South, £250 from Reddish North and £250 from Heatons North ward allocations) towards the cost of installing welfare facilities within Willow Grove Cemetery (Natsol – full access compost toilet with metal building).

To consider an application for Ward Flexibility Funding received from Stockport Neighbourhood Watch Association for a grant of £200 (£50 from each ward allocation) towards the cost of establishing a website for Stockport Neighbourhood Watch Association which will help in their objective of building a safer, stronger and more connected community.

A representative of the Strategic Head of Service (Legal & Democratic Governance and Monitoring Officer) submitted an application received on behalf of Stockport Neighbourhood Watch Association towards the cost of establishing a website for Stockport Neighbourhood Watch Association which will help in their objective of building a safer, stronger and more connected community.

RESOLVED – That approval be given to an application from Stockport Neighbourhood Watch Association for a grant of £200 from the Ward Flexibility Funding Budget (£50 from each ward allocation) towards the cost of establishing a website for Stockport Neighbourhood Watch Association which will help in their objective of building a safer, stronger and more connected community.

To consider a report and associated presentation of the Corporate Director (Place) & Deputy Chief Executive.

This report provides all Area Committees with an overview of how Stockport Council are progressing a Stockport Climate Action Now (CAN) Summit, an online event being held on 9th November 2021, and the CAN Funding, a new funding scheme for microprojects that will directly reduce or mitigate carbon emissions in Stockport.

The Area Committee is recommended to

·         comment on the report, including feedback on plans for both the Stockport CAN funding and Climate Summit.

·         submit suggestions for representation and invitation to the climate summit on 9th November.

Nick Leslie (Head of Climate Action Now) attended the meeting and made a presentation providing an overview of how Stockport Council was progressing a Stockport Climate Action Now (CAN) Summit (an online event being held on 9 November 2021) and the CAN Funding which was a new funding scheme for microprojects that would directly reduce or mitigate carbon emissions in Stockport.

The following comments were made/ issues raised:-

·         Welcomed the report and the actions identified, but local residents would not recognise the ward boundaries and there would need to be a flexible approach to engage with already established groups early in the process.

·         Working closely with schools regarding their involvement and looking at mechanisms to engage with all schools across the borough.

·         It was suggested that engagement with green spaces and allotment groups would be key.

This report is to advise the Committee of objections received to the proposed introduction of Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) for Hawthorne Road, Mersey Road, Thornhill Road, Didsbury Road, Vale Close, Parrs Mount Mews, Cavendish Road, Highfield Park and Pleachway, Heaton Mersey. The TROs are proposed as part of the Road Safety around Schools scheme for Didsbury Road Primary School.

The Area Committee is asked to consider the comments in the report and provide approval for the order to be made as advertised.

The TRO is proposed as part of the Road Safety around Schools scheme for Norris Bank Primary School.
