Officer cotnact: Patrick Arran, 0161 474 3219, patrick.arran@stockport.gov.uk

Minutes:

The Monitoring Officer submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) summarising complaints received about the conduct of members during the 2017/2018 municipal year and outlining what actions had been taken, if any, arising from those complaints.

The Committee discussed the process by which the Monitoring Officer consulted with the Independent Person during the course of any investigation and subsequently when determining the need to convene a Standards Hearing Panel. The Committee were assured that the process followed was robust and there was sufficient challenge when considering the significance of each complaint. The Monitoring Officer reported that a number of refresher training sessions would held for Councillors on the Code of Conduct in September 2018 and that members of the Committee were welcome to attend and observe.

The Chair further reported that he would present this report to the Full Council Meeting.

RESOLVED – That the report of the Monitoring Officer be noted.
