Minutes:

A representative of the Director of Development and Regeneration submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) which set out the draft final report and recommendations on the work of the Scrutiny Review Panel.

The following comments were made/ issues raised:

·         The final report was expected to be considered by the Economy and Regeneration Scrutiny Committee, and thereafter, Cabinet.

·         It was suggested that the recommendation relating to the Greater Manchester Transport Committee be strengthened to include that all members of the committee be written to, rather than solely the Stockport Council members of the committee.

·         It was also suggested that the ambitious nature of the council in securing Metrolink should be strengthened within the report.

·         Further, that the final report also be circulated to the board of the Mayoral Development Corporation (MDC) for their information and reiterating Stockport’s commitment and eagerness to bring Metrolink/ tram train to Stockport. It was hoped that, by circulating the report to the board, this would tap into the momentum of the work of the MDC.

·         Members felt that it was important to identify the barriers to progressing with Metrolink/ tram train for Stockport and review what must be done to address the barriers.

RESOLVED – That, subject to the inclusion of the suggested amendments, the draft final report be endorsed for onward submission to the Economy and Regeneration Scrutiny Committee, and thereafter, Cabinet.
