To consider a report of the Assistant Director for Legal & Democratic Governance.

The report details a number of applications received for funding from the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust and asks that the Sub Committee consider the applications in line with the charitable objectives of the Trust.

The Sub Committee are recommended to determine the applications for funding from the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust.

A representative of the Assistant Director for Legal & Democratic Governance submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) detailing applications received for funding from the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust and recommended that the Sub Committee consider and determine the applications in line with the charitable objectives of the Trust.

Bolshaw Primary School PTFA is asking for £8000 from the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust towards the cost of an outdoor canopy classroom to enhance the outdoor learning experience for the children of Bolshaw Primary School by providing an area for nature-based play and learning.

RESOLVED – That the application be deferred to the next meeting of the Sub Committee to enable the applicant the opportunity to attend the meeting to speak to their application.

Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur (UK) is asking for £2000 from the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust towards supporting their Spreading Smiles campaign by increasing the frequency and variety of events (4-week period) helping to reduce social isolation in the community.

RESOLVED – That the application be deferred to the next meeting of the Sub Committee to enable the applicant to provide further information as to their application.

2nd Cheadle Scout Group is asking for £6000 from the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust towards drainage works to future proof the Scout Headquarters for the future.

A representative of the Assistant Director for Legal & Democratic Governance submitted an application received on behalf of 2nd Cheadle Scout Group (copies of which had been circulated) which sought funding towards the cost of drainage works to future proof the Scout Headquarters.

The applicant attended the meeting to speak to the application and respond to questions from the Sub Committee.

RESOLVED – That approval be given to an application for funding from the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust received from 2nd Cheadle Scout Group for a grant of £4,000 towards the cost of drainage works to future proof the Scout Headquarters.

Friends of Valley P.T.A is asking for up to £5000 from the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust towards the cost of new adapted cycles (trikes, bikes, scooters, and outdoor equipment) that are suitable for the needs of the pupils of Valley School.

A representative of the Assistant Director for Legal & Democratic Governance submitted an application received on behalf of Friends of Valley P.T.A (copies of which had been circulated) which sought funding towards the cost of new adapted cycles (trikes, bikes, scooters, and outdoor equipment) that were suitable for the needs of the pupils of Valley School.

The applicant attended the meeting to speak to the application and respond to questions from the Sub Committee.

Members encouraged a further opening-up of the resource on occasion for other people in the local area to make use of the provision. It was noted that the school held two events per year to enable those that were not pupils at the school to make use of school resources.

RESOLVED – That approval be given to an application for funding from the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust received from Friends of Valley P.T.A for a grant of £3,000 towards the cost of new adapted cycles (trikes, bikes, scooters, and outdoor equipment) that were suitable for the needs of the pupils of Valley School.
