RESOLVED – That Councillor Ian Hunter be elected Chair of the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust Sub Committee for the duration of the meeting.

To consider a report of the Assistant Director - Legal and Democratic Governance and Monitoring Officer.

 

The Sub Committee are asked to consider and agree updated Terms of Reference of the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust Sub Committee (shown as tracked changes) following amendments made to the aims that projects should seek to support by members of the Cheadle Area Committee at their meeting held on 29 November 2022.

 

The Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust Sub Committee is recommended to agree the Terms of Reference.

A representative of the Assistant Director for Legal and Democratic Governance submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) detailing updated Terms of Reference of the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust Sub Committee (shown as tracked changes) following amendments made to the aims that projects should seek to support by members of the Cheadle Area Committee at their meeting held on 29 November 2022.

 

RESOLVED – That the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust Sub Committee Terms of Reference be agreed.

Applications for funding from the Brookfield Shiers Family Trust pdf icon PDF 227 KB

To consider a report of the Assistant Director - Legal and Democratic Governance and Monitoring Officer.

 

The report details a number of applications received for funding from the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust, and asks that the Sub Committee consider the applications in line with the charitable objectives of the Trust.

 

The Sub Committee are recommended to:

 

(1)  note the amendments made to the aims that projects should seek to support by members of the Cheadle Area Committee at their meeting held on 29 November 2022; and

 

(2)  determine the applicationsfor funding from the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust.

To consider an application for funding from the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust received from St Catherine’s Church for a grant of £2,500 (inclusive of VAT) towards the cost of a set of automatic doors in the foyer of St Catherine’s Church.

A representative of the Assistant Director for Legal and Democratic Governance submitted an application received on behalf of St Catherine’s Church (copies of which had been circulated) which sought funding to improve the accessibility of the church through the installation of a set of automatic doors in the foyer of the church.

 

The applicant attended the meeting to speak to the application and respond to questions from the Sub Committee.

 

RESOLVED – That approval be given to an application from St Catherine’s Church, Cheadle, for a grant of £2,500 towards the cost of a set of automatic doors in the foyer of St Catherine’s Church.

To consider an application for funding from the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust received from Abney Scout & Guide Training and Residential Centre for a grant of £10,000 towards the cost of updating and modernising the centre’s existing toilets, disabled toilet, and shower facilities.

A representative of the Assistant Director for Legal and Democratic Governance submitted an application received on behalf of Abney Scout & Guide Training and Residential Centre (copies of which had been circulated) which sought funding to enhance the community facility by updating and modernising the centre’s existing toilets, disabled toilet, and shower facilities.

 

The applicant attended the meeting to speak to the application and respond to questions from the Sub Committee.

 

Members welcomed the application and proposals to enhance this important community facility for its users. It was noted that the application requested a significant amount of funding from the Trust, and consideration was given to maintaining the sustainability and integrity of the Trust fund in enabling the Trust to continue to support projects. The applicant was also encouraged to explore other opportunities for funding, and the Sub Committee welcomed further updates on the project as it progressed.

 

RESOLVED – That approval be given to an application from Abney Scout & Guide Training and Residential Centre for a grant of £6,000 towards the cost of updating and modernising the centre’s existing toilets, disabled toilet, and shower facilities.
