To consider a report of the Strategic Head of Service (Legal & Democratic Governance and Monitoring Officer).

At its meeting on 29 March 2021 the Scrutiny Review Panel requested a legal briefing note in relation to where  liability for possible incidents might arise during a closure of the road as a play street. 

The Panel is recommended to comment on and note the report.

To consider a report of the Corporate Director (Place) and Deputy Chief Executive.

Further to the last Scrutiny meeting on Monday 29th March, the panel asked for an update and written response from Education and Children’s services with thoughts about how Play Streets and school streets might impact on children’s health and wellbeing, and road safety awareness.

In addition to these responses, we are reporting on two further areas:

·         An idea for an approach towards a new mechanism to support playstreets and

·         Potential funding and resources for both schemes.

The Scrutiny Committee is recommended to comment on and note the report.
