The report sets out the findings of a consultation exercise for the Road Safety around Schools scheme around St Ambrose Catholic Primary School and seeks approval for the implementation of dropped kerbs with tactile paving; road markings and new school warning signs.
The Area Committee is requested to approve the proposals for the Road Safety around Schools – St Ambrose Catholic Primary School scheme.

A representative of the Strategic Head of Service & Monitoring Officer (Legal & Democratic Governance) submitted a report of the Corporate Director (Place) and Deputy Chief Executive (copies of which had been circulated) setting out the findings of a consultation exercise for the Road Safety around Schools scheme around St. Ambrose Catholic Primary School and sought approval for the implementation of dropped kerbs wit tactile paving; road markings and new school warning signs.
RESOLVED – That approval be given to the Road Safety around Schools scheme around St. Ambrose Catholic Primary School, as shown on the drawings attached to the report, to be funded from the Road Safety around Schools programme budget allocation. The proposals included:-
· an upgrade of the school warning signage on Adswood Road including provision of ‘School 20 When Lights Show’ signage to encourage vehicles to slow done at school times;
· provision of ‘SLOW’ road markings on Adswood Road;
· provision of a new school warning sign on Roslyn Road;
· provision of dropped kerbs and tactile paving at the vehicular entrance to the school on Rostrevor Road to assist pedestrians; and
· provision of hatching at the junction of Roslyn Road and Rostrevor Road to encourage vehicles to slow down when turning left from Roslyn Road.
