To consider a report of the Deputy Chief Executive.

The report summarises recent appeal decisions, lists current planning appeals and dates for local enquiries and informal hearings, progress on authorised enforcement action set out by area committee.

The Area Committee is requested to note the report.

A representative of the Corporate Director for Place Management & Regeneration submitted a report of the Deputy Chief Executive (copies of which had been circulated) listing any outstanding or recently determined planning appeals and enforcement activity within the area represented by the Marple Area Committee.

It was commented that it was regrettable that the Mayor of Greater Manchester was shortly due to visit The Garden House, Lakes Road, Marple that was the subject of a longstanding appeal against the undertaking of enforcement action by the Council with regard to the change of use of the site without the benefit of planning permission.

Following concerns expressed by members in relation to the length of time it was taking for appeals to be resolved, it was commented that there was a backlog of enforcement enquiries with the Planning Inspectorate due to a shortage of Planning Inspectors.
