The Greater Manchester Plan for Homes, Jobs and the Environment: The Greater Manchester Spatial Framework (GMSF) was approved for public consultation at a meeting of the Joint Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA)/Association of Greater Manchester Authorities Joint Board on 11 January 2019. The formal consultation on the document commenced on 21 January 2019 and will run until 18 March 2019.This is the next stage of the process which follows on from an initial consultation on a first Draft GMSF, which ran from October 2016 to January 2017.

A representative of the Deputy Chief Executive submitted a report of the Corporate Director for Place Management and Regeneration (copies of which had been circulated) outlining the proposals for public consultation events relating to the Greater Manchester Plan for Homes, Jobs and the Environment – The Greater Manchester Spatial Framework Draft.

 

RESOLVED – (1) That the report be noted.

 

(2) That the Deputy Chief Executive be requested to arrange an extra-ordinary meeting of the Area Committee as soon as practicable before the end of the consultation period to enable views to be expressed in respect to the Greater Manchester Plan for Homes, Jobs and the Environment – The Greater Manchester Spatial Framework Draft.

It was also reported that since the publication of the report, the dates for the consultation events in Heald Green had now been agreed. These would include a local drop in event at Christ Church Hall on 12 February, a public meeting on 12 February at Heald Green Village Hall and a drop in event on 13 February at Heald Green Village Hall.

Councillors encouraged the public to attend the engagement events and make responses to the consultation.

 

Concern was expressed that members of the public were not able to make representations on the draft Strategy through the Council. It was suggested that the Council may consider distributing a special edition of the ‘Review’ to raise awareness with the public of the proposals.

It was also reported that since the publication of the report, the date for the consultation event in Romiley had now been agreed and would be held on 5 March 2019 at Romiley Primary School between 6.00 pm and 8.30 pm.

 

In addition, it was commented that the Friends of Tangshutt would be holding an event on 17 February 2019 at Romiley Methodist Church between 1.30 pm and 3.30 pm to assist local residents in completing their consultation responses.
