Minutes:

A representative of the Deputy Chief Executive submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) seeking the views of the Area Committee on the current polling arrangements within the Area Committee area in order to inform the Polling District review.

It was commented that Polling Districts BA and BC used the same polling place at Emmanuel CofE Church Hall, however electors were required to enter by different entrances one of which was further around the hall which caused difficulties for elderly residents with mobility difficulties, was poorly lit at night and as a result posed a barrier to those wanting to cast their vote.  It was suggested that the same entrance be used for both polling districts as happened at Nevill Road Primary School as a means of mitigating against this.

RESOLVED – (1) That the report be noted.

(2) That the comments of the Area Committee be forwarded to the Returning Office for her consideration.
