To consider an application from the Stockport Carnival Committee seeking funding toward the cost of the carnival.

The Cabinet Member for Reform & Governance, following a recommendation of the Borough-Wide Funding Group has already awarded £600. The Group recommended that the application be submitted to all area committees for them to consider whether they wished to make an award toward the remainder of the request.

A representative of the Democratic Services Manager submitted an application received on behalf of the Stockport Carnival Committee seeking funding toward the cost of the carnival.

RESOLVED – That approval be given to the award of a grant of £150 from the Ward Flexibility Budget (£50 from each ward allocation) to the Stockport Carnival Committee towards the cost of the carnival.

RESOLVED – That approval be given to the award of a grant of £20 from the Ward Flexibility Budget (Manor Ward allocation) to the Stockport Carnival Committee towards the cost of the carnival, to meet the funding shortfall in the application from the Stockport Carnival Committee towards the cost of the carnival.

A representative of the Democratic Services Manager submitted an application (copies of which had been circulated) on behalf of the organisers of Stockport carnival requesting funding to support the carnival.

RESOLVED – That the Area Committee would not wish to make a grant on this occasion.

The Group recommended that the application be submitted to all area committees for them to consider whether they wished to make an award toward the remainder of the request.

A representative of the Democratic Services Manager submitted an application from the Stockport Carnival Committee seeking funding toward the cost of organising the event.

The application had been referred to all area committees by the Borough-wide funding group who had made an award of £600 but had invited area committees to consider whether they also wished to support the request.

RESOLVED – That an award of £100 be made to the Stockport Carnival Committee as a contribution to the running cost of the Carnival, and the Democratic Services Manager, in consultation with the Chair, be authorised to make an additional contribution of up to £200 in the event that the Carnival Committee does not secure sufficient grants from the other area committees.

Cheadle and Gatley Ward - £60

Cheadle Hulme North Ward - £60

Heald Green Ward - £60

RESOLVED – That a grant of £100.00 to the Stockport Carnival (to be divided equally between the four wards) for the running of the carnival in 2018 be approved.
