Minutes:

A representative of the Corporate Director for Place Management & Regeneration submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) detailing a proposal to convert the existing Signalised Pedestrian Puffin Crossing to a Toucan Crossing and introduce shared-use (pedestrian/ cyclist) paths on Church Road, Cheadle Hulme as part of the Cycle City Ambition Grant package of works.

Concern was expressed that the extension of the existing parking bay to facilitate the introduction of a new disabled persons parking bay on the north side of Church Road would reduce the visibility for vehicles exiting Hill Top Avenue onto Church Road and therefore be harmful to road safety.  It was suggested that the new disabled persons parking bay could reasonably be accommodated within the extent of the existing general parking bay.

RESOLVED – That, subject to the amendment of the proposal such that the new disabled persons parking bay was incorporated within the extent of the existing general parking bay, the Cabinet Member for Communities & Housing be recommended to give approval to the proposals contained in the plan appended to the report, and the legal advertising of the associated package of traffic regulation orders, and subject to the receipt of no objections within 21 days of the advertisement date, the subsequent making of the orders.
