To consider a report of the Corporate Director for Place Management and Regeneration

To report the findings of a consultation exercise and to seek approval for the introduction of a Traffic Regulation Order for a Residents Permit Parking Scheme and No Waiting at Any Time parking restrictions on Jackson Street, Platt Street and Cromer Road, Cheadle.

The Area Committee is recommended to approve the statutory legal advertising of the Traffic Regulation Orders detailed in the report and, subject to no objections being received within twenty one days from the advertisement date, the Orders can be made.

A representative of the Corporate Director for Place Management and Regeneration submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) setting out the findings of a consultation exercise and seeking approval for the introduction of a Traffic Regulation Order for a Residents Permit Parking Scheme and No Waiting At Any Time parking restrictions on Jackson Street, Platt Street and Cromer Road, Cheadle.

It was reported that Traffic Services had been contacted by residents of numbers 73-81 Stockport Road which were situated immediately around the corner from Jackson Street requesting that they be issued with a permit for residents’ parking. Following consideration of this request, Officers were now requesting that those residents be also included within the proposed Residents Permit Parking Scheme, but for this to take place the Council would have to amend the existing Traffic Regulation Order to remove lengths of No Waiting At Any Time but still keeping 10 metres length to protect the junction.

The Area Committee was reminded that under the Council’s current policy each household within the proposed ‘Residents Permit Zone’ would be eligible to apply for three permits.

RESOLVED – (1) That the Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing be recommended to approve the statutory legal advertising of the Traffic Regulation Order as set out in the report but amended to include the effect of including numbers 73-81 Stockport Road in the Residents Permit Parking Scheme, at an approximate cost of £1,850 to be funded from the Parking Budget.

(2) That subject to no objections being received within twenty one days from the advertisement date, the Order be made.
