Minutes:

A representative of the Democratic Services Manager submitted a report of the Corporate Director for Place Management & Regeneration (copies of which had been circulated) providing a response to the document that had previously been submitted to the Area Committee on behalf of ‘Hulme Hall Area Neighbourhood Voice’ concerning traffic problems within the locality of Smithy Green on Hulme Hall Road, Cheadle Hulme.

The following comments were made/ issues raised:-

·         There was an existing dropped crossing with tactile paving which indicated the pedestrians that this was a safe crossing location, however elderly residents did not feel safe using it.

·         It was requested that officers prepare a costing for the introduction of red warning markings at the dropped kerb crossing and high visibility pedestrian warning signage on Hulme Hall Road.

·         Comparative costs were also requested for the introduction of a controlled crossing at the same location.

RESOLVED – That the Corporate Director for Place Management & Regeneration be requested to submit a report to the next meeting of the Area Committee providing costings for the introduction of additional measures to improve the safety of the pedestrian crossing on Hulme Hall Road, Cheadle Hulme.
